5Best I've used
By John in Mid-Michigan
I use this iron almost every day. Is very dependable and heats quickly. Burns long on a single tank of fuel. Love this iron. After trying different manufacturer's models of gas powered in the past I was told about this one. Glad I was. By far superior to others. It is Master Appliance's top selling model of iron for a reason. Even lights on a windy day, as long as tool isn't too cold. But on cold days outside you can't get a plugged in model to heat up either! Great when 110VAC is unavailable. Great even when it is. I never even use a plug-in anymore. If you solder, buy this iron. You'll be glad you did.

5Love this tool
By Dale I. Techel
I am an auto mechanic, and use this tool a lot. I've used this same tool for many years now. Only downside is, you do need to be careful in it being dropped, as it can get damaged easily. Other then that, no complaints.

5Rock Solid Reliable
By Michael
I have owned one of these (Master Appliance UT-100si) for many years (s/n 2062815). I bought it sometime in the 90s off a Snap-On tool truck. My work frequently requires soldering and shrinking heat-shrink tubing in places too far to run an extension cord. I refill with Ronson Multi-Fill butane, which is available at your local grocery store. At some point several years ago I began to have difficulty getting the UT-100Si to light, but discovered that if I point the tip down and push the button it works every, single time. Other than that, I have not had a single problem. This is one of my favorite tools, and I have lots of tools. Very rarely have I had reason to use anything but the lowest setting, as it gets plenty hot. With the heat set to 1, the temperature at the outlet near the tip is well over 700 degrees F, so this is not for clumsy or forgetful people! Great tool! I highly recommend it.
