4Works well, noisier than desirable, arrived with wrong parts
By Objectivist
The installation instructions are sparse. It would have been helpful to know that to install the unit, you should remove the panel completely and not just fold it down. On my fireplace, removing the panel was simple: I opened the panel all the way and pulled out a retaining pin from each of the two hinge pins; then I rocked the panel a bit as I pulled out the hinge pins.It would also have been helpful to know that when you slide in the motor assembly, you should slide it in at the far left side of the opening (not just "to the left of the valve" as the instructions said). You need the unit to clear the solid gas line that goes to the valve. But most helpful would have been for the kit to have included the correct size nuts. There were six nuts included, which is the correct count, but only one was the correct size of 10-24. The other five nuts were all 10-32 -- the nuts should go on easily, so do NOT (repeat NOT!) try to force on any nuts.I went to Home Depot to get the correct size nuts, but they don't carry that particular kind of nut. So I went to Ace Hardware and found them in one of the many boxes of specialty fasteners they carry. To make sure I bought the correct size, I borrowed a 10-24 screw and spun each nut onto it. That was a good thing, because the 10-24 and 10-32 nuts were in side-by-side boxes and were mixed in with each other. The installation instructions also don't explain how the unit works. You need to know that the blower does NOT turn on when the gas turns on. Instead, it turns on when the temperature in the firebox gets hot enough, which is 5-10 minutes after you turn on the fireplace. The kit includes a temperature sensor that you attach to the bottom of the firebox (the top of the opening) that determines when the fan should go on. And it stays on after you turn off the flame, until the firebox cools down. The best tool to have for installation is a 3/8" ratcheting wrench; second best is a 3/8" combination wrench. Nut drivers are too long to fit in the space. Worst would be an adjustable wrench, and if you use one, it better be very short. If you have the correct parts and tools, and if you follow the instructions carefully, installation should take 10-15 minutes. The fan is a little noisier than I would like, but it's not bad on a low setting. (The other reviewers gave me fair warning about the noise.) This fan uses a "squirrel cage" design. I've seen fireplace fans that claim to be quieter because they use pancake fans (like computer fans) but I just wasn't comfortable buying a fan that was not specifically made for my fireplace.

4Good product
By Tim
The product arrived on time and in perfect condition. Mounted up perfectly with the fireplace. There was no electrical run to the fireplace from my builder so instead of wiring up the box inside the base of the fireplace, I made a new electrical box downstairs and plugged it in there (it comes with a "3 prong" grounded plug!!). The only complaint is the noise of the unit... not the most quiet I've ever heard, but it is a fan, and it's going to make some noise!

4works well
By Michael J. Hartfield
This blower works great. Make sure you clean out all the cobwebs and crap so it blows to the best of its ability. I sit about 6 feet from it when I watch TV and can hear it mainly when it's on its highest setting, but it's just a hum, so not a big deal. Love the fact that it has a magnet(No rattling).

5Awesome Product
By Parent
I bought a 5000 watt generator and then picked up one of these. Though it is a bit pricey, it is well worth the cost. Installing is very easy. I recommend watching the videos first - they can be found on the company web page. The end result is you have greater control on how your generator powers your house. If you are thinking of running extension cords to appliances in the house in an emergency - do this instead. Once it is installed - just get the generator running - plug it into the transfer switch and turn on the six breakers to power whichever parts of the house you choose during the install.

5Just what I needed
By Richard Lewington
A couple of years ago, a heat wave knocked out the power on our block for 48 hours. This posed two challenges: how to keep the food in the fridge fresh and (more importantly) how to power the TV and TiVo. In the end, I hooked up a portable generator to the TV and taped the fridge shut! After that, I did some research and bought this unit. It's just what I needed. Literally everything I needed to hook this up next to the breaker box was provided and once I'd read the (slightly confusing) instructions a couple of times I had it installed and tested in about an hour. The power meters are a really good feature. My generator isn't nearly big enough to power the whole house, so the meters allow me to gradually turn on individual circuits without overloading the generator.Of course, we haven't had an outage longer than ten minutes since, but it's reassuring to know I'm ready when it does happen again.

5Excellent Add-On For 4000+ Watt Generators
By J. McNamara
I totally agree with the prior positive feedback. I connected this unit to a 4000 peak watt generator (rated 3300 watt)that is also offered by Amazon.I now have direct breaker panel access to 6 key 120v power services during a power outage:(1)sump pump, (2)refrigerator, (3)microwave, (4)family room, (5)garage door, (6) cable vendor services (computer, TV, phone). The vendor instruction video (mentioned earlier) was terrific - much better than written instructions for those of us who do not like to read!Installation suggestions / caveats if you buy this unit:1) This price allows your generator extension cord directly into the basement power transfer unit. If you plan on an External 220v power inlet connection, purchase the other kit option that includes the external 220v female plug (save money).2) I found it difficult to connect the 240v power extension cord female plug into the 4 prong 240v 30 amp socket! To avoid startup delays during a power outage, I left the generator power cord (50 feet) plugged into the basement wall mount. I ran the other end to the basement window closest to the outside generator location (via the ceiling). When power fails - I open the basement window and easily extend the cable male plug to the outside generator location(about 10 feet away). It also avoided an external permanent power inlet box expense.3) Carefully choose the best outside location compromise for the generator and extension cord (open air, protected from rain/snow, hidden from sight, grounding rod, minimal cable length). The grounding rod can affect your location - it was 8 feet deep for me. Verify your power cord can reach the best generator location.4) Special Note if you have a 120v-only Generator:This unit comes with a 240v 20amp female plug (4 wire cable). However, it will also work with a 120V-only generator that has a 3-prong, 30 amp (3 wire connection). The (2) hot wires of a 240 V (4 wire) cable must be tied together to the one hot pin in the 120 V 30 amp male plug. Call the vendor if you like more information.

5Works well.
By Michael Fettig
I purchased this blower to add it to a mid 90's Heat-n-Glo gas fireplace that never had a blower installed. The blower came very quickly from the seller and I installed it in 5 minutes. It is a little tricky to manuever the blower to where it needs to go, but not a fault of this blower. The blower is quiet and works well. It does push some air and helps to distribute heat.

4Blower motor replacement
By G. Bricker
This blower was purchased to replace a 20-year old identical Regency Wood Stove blower motor. It is exactly the same motor and blower. However, you will need to retain some of the old motor wiring to cut & crimp. The new motor comes with just a crimped power cord and an attached ground wire. You will need to cannibalize the old wiring in order to use your existing power switch and thermal overload. A minor nuisance. The new blower might also have to be rotated 90 degrees on the baseplate. In order to gain access to the bolts, you have to pinch and remove the cotter pin and then pull (hard) on the plastic blades to remove. Another minor nuisance. Make sure you have a magnetized socket screwdriver handy.Altogether, it took my fat fingers about 30 minutes to install. The new blower is whisper quiet.

5Lower Gas Bill
By Ruben Blackmon
The hardest thing about these blowers was making sure I had the correct one for the fireplaces I have. I received it and had very little trouble installing it. Again, the manufacturer make the most problems. It works better than I could have imagined, to include all three blower settings. It was so good that I ordered another one because I have two fireplaces. Recommend that installation instructions from the manufacturer is downloaded before you order because the blower comes only with instructions on how to mount it and plug it in.

4As good or better than a Dyson
By D. Ruehle
UPDATE : 2/11/09 See Note Below if you own this unit...I purchased this as a replacement for a Dyson DC-15 Animal. The Dyson had a high pitched noise that gave both my wife and I a headache. I found I could vacuum with an IPOD on loud, and she could manage it with earplugs. After giving 2 DC-15's a try I started my vacuum search again bought the 5770.The Good:1). This vacuum is a great value when compared to the Dyson.2). The suction is just as good or better than most Dyson's (a sales guy told me the DC-17 has slightly more, but both are great). When vacuuming after the DC-15 the Bissell picked up more stuff. I noticed that the first vacuum with the DC-15 got a bunch of junk out my carpet, but after that it was just a little... This picked up as much dirt as the DC-15 did originally, so I was impressed.3). It comes standard with the turbo brush, and all the small tools you need. The standard brush attachment is really pretty cool as it is a standard long bristle brush, but then can pull apart and become a short bristle brush in case you need to really scrub something.4). The hose is great. It's flexible and actually reaches to the top of the stairs (unlike the Dyson).5). The front end is low to get into short spaces below furniture etc. and it does have a headlight. I thought the headlight was no big deal, but when the extra long cord allowed me to vacuum into a dark room the headlight actually helped out.6). You can turn the beater brush on and off with a touch of a button. When you stand the unit up it automatically shuts off. The brush also has a separate motor. The Brush is very stiff, like a Dyson, but the bristles are shorter, I believe this makes it easier on your carpet. The Dyson started pulling up lose carpet fibers from the edges of my carpet, I think, because of the longer bristle brush. The Bissell seems to be gentler on my carpet but at the same time it makes the carpet fibers stand right up and look like new. It also has a height adjustment, which, depending on your point of view, is a good thing.7). It's Quiet! You can actually talk to someone while vacuuming. Don't get me wrong it's still a vacuum, there is still noise, but it's a lower muffled sound that is easy to listen to.The Bad:1). It's Heavy! In fact, we almost returned this unit and started looking for something else that would work for us. We ended up keeping the unit, but we took a good couple of days vacuuming the house and thinking it over. Half jokingly I said let's think of this as an exercise machine that just happens to clean the house!I would recommend taking some time to test this in the store, pushing it around on some carpet (with a pad) like you have at home to get a true feeling for it. Initially (after the wonderfully easy to maneuver DC-15 Ball) it seemed really heavy. After a few days we're used to it and it doesn't seem bad at all.2). Bissell got the dirt canister wrong, Dyson wins this battle. The canister is in a slight "V" shape so lots of dirt on the top of the pile must somehow compact a bit to fit through a smaller area on the bottom, kind of like going through a funnel. Water flows nicely through a funnel... Dirt does not. The release button is not right on top, like the dyson, so it's a two handed deal to hold the canister and then press the button to release the dirt. Next, the trap door at the bottom is not spring loaded, like the dyson, so it may or may not open, so you might need to flick it open with your finger. The trick with your finger may or may not get you dusty, because the dirt may not just dump out because the nice "V" shape of the unit keeps it in place, maybe this is a good feature? Joking aside, this really could be improved and I hope Bissell does this on future models because it really is a great vacuum.I justified this dirt canister problem by comparing it to the Dyson... Fluffy stuff (hair, carpet fibers etc.) would get stuck in their dust bin as well, not as much, but it happened. Also, after a few uses the little holes in the inside bottom part of the cyclone clog up so it's a messy job to clean that up. The bottom line here is I think you empty the canister a little more often and your fine, but the nature of either beast is that you're going to have some dirty work ahead of you at some point. It's just the price you pay for superior suction.Hope this helps!Update 2/11/09:Just under the two year mark the brush started to get noisey and smell. Unlike a vacuum from the old days you can't just throw in a new brush and belt. I called Bissell and they had me send the unit back and sent me a refurbished unit. The Bad: Being a 'Mr. Fixit' kind of guy, I took this apart prior to calling Bissell. (I didn't remember there was a 2 year warranty). The brush bearing cap on one end was worn and the plastic started to melt. There is are mounting/stabilization points near the belt and these were badly worn/melted as well. You cannot fix these mounting points as they are part of the top and bottom of the unit. I have no idea what this would cost to replace, but I'd guess a lot. This seems to be a bad design. Maybe I just had a bad brush, but I don't think so...The Key is to find the problem prior to the mounting points being destroyed. They do have a bushing that looks like it can be replaced so this should save big $$ on a repair. What you should do: If you own this unit, or are thinking about buying one, about once a month do the following:1. Flip the unit over to expose the brush.2. Remove the junk that gets stuck in the brush.3. Grab the brush on one end and try to move it up and down or side to side. The brush should be solid and only move round and round.4. Repeat step 3 on the other side.Note: If you can move the brush it's starting to go bad. Call Bissell to find the nearest repair facility if your out of warranty. If you're in warranty they'll replace it for you.I got my refurbed unit today, it works great!

5Absolutely amazing!!
By Susan
Okay, first of all, I must admit that I have become Amazon-dependent over the past few years. Before I make a new purchase, I have to read the reviews on Amazon. Many bad purchases have been avoided thanks to all of your input. That being said, I was on the fence about this particular purchase. Most of the reviews were positive... but even the few that were negative seemed legitimate enough to make me pause. However, Amazon has never steered me wrong. So, with four and a half stars, I schlepped out to buy the Healthy Home vacuum cleaner this morning.OMG!! This vacuum is amazing!! Now, I have three soccer kids and two dogs, so my house gets its fair share of dirt tracked in and out on a daily basis. And, until recently, I really thought that my vacuum, in conjunction with the world's best steam cleaner, were getting the job done, at least for the most part. Now, my kids all started school last week, so I've got plenty of time on my hands. That time has been spent deep-cleaning the entire upstairs. As a matter of fact, I just went through the whole upstairs yesterday with my Hoover, and thoroughly cleaned every room. We're talking hands and knees, vacuum attachments and hoses everywhere. It was quite the event. So, I get home with my new vacuum and where do I start? Upstairs, of course. Because if my old vacuum was doing its job, there really shouldn't be anything there, right?? I mean, it all looked clean. I plugged in the Healthy Home, turned it on, and pushed it three feet in front of me just to get situated. I happened to look down at the canister, and holy crap!! That's all I can say. It had already sucked up an insane amount of dirt in one three-foot push. Yikes!!After I finished up the bedrooms, I moved to the upstairs hall and stairway. I have to say that the teeny, tiny little turbo tool that doesn't even look like it wants to be a vacuum when it grows up, is so powerful, it could probably suck up one of my children... whole!!So the steps were done lickety split and I still had plenty of time to kill. So, off to the downstairs foyer to tackle the Pergo. Now, my old vacuum had a bare floor setting, and I tried to use it in the past. But, it was more of a dirt spraying setting than anything else. You could feel and hear the dirt being shot around the room from the exhaust under the vacuum. So, needless to say, I was a little doubtful about being able to use the vacuum on the bare floor setting. Doubt's over!! The Healthy Home got all of it. The dirt, the sand, the little tiny mulch pieces, the Rottweiler hair; all gone!! It all ended up in the canister, and I didn't have to use any of the onboard tools to get it there. Now, I've saved the most frequent complaint for last; emptying the canister. I have been brutally honest with you up until now, I see no point to start lying. I hate emptying vacuum canisters; hate it!! I never hated changing the bag on my old, old upright. But ever since we bought our first bagless vac, emptying the canister has been my husband's job.So, I'm upstairs, happily working on my first room, when... uh-oh!! Canister's full. I have two options; I can either wait six or seven hours for my husband to come home and empty it, or I can pretend to be a grown-up and do it myself. So, it's off to the deck I go with the canister and an empty trash bag. I am ready for a terrible struggle, since based on all of the reviews, emptying this canister is quite similar to giving birth. I pushed the little button thing on the side, the bottom opened up, and some of the dirt came out. Then, nothing. So, I shimmied the canister back and forth a little bit, and everything came out. I did not have to reach in and touch any of it. The only thing I did when I was done was wipe the outside of the container a little with a damp paper towel, since it got a little dusty during the emptying. Now, on to the last thing. And maybe this won't mean very much to you, but it means a lot to me. After vacuuming my entire house, in record time, might I add, the vacuum cleaner itself, still spotless!!! No dirt, anywhere, except inside the canister. No hazy little dust coating, nothing!! It is still spotless. And my house smells clean. None of that strange lingering odor that smells like a dog mixed with dirty sweatsocks that hung around every time I used my old vacuum. So, hip, hip, hooray for the healthy home. I could not be more pleased. And, at $300 less than a Dyson, I think I got an incredible deal!!

5Get bang for your buck!
By The Three Woods
I am skeptical of every new, improved, etc. thing that hits the market guaranteeing excellent results. I always assume that it's a product that will work well for the first few times, but like everything else - overtime it will depreciate in quality. I do not believe that is the case with this vacuum. It does a fabulous job of picking up cat hair, litter messes, dog hair, etc. without even sounding like it's working hard. The suction is unbelieveable! It's strong enough to pull our floor up -so we had to set it on the highest setting to avoid that. It still picked up kiddie dinner messes, etc. without any hassles. It's also quiet enough to talk over. I am a phone-aholic and usually can't carry on a conversation when vacuuming because I can't hear the caller. Not so with this vacuum. It's not really quiet, but it's quiet enough for me to chat away with a friend without them or I having to say "what? huh? I Can't hear you!" The vacuum is heavy, but I don't see that as a downfall. I see it as an asset. With it's weight, it really pushes down into the carpet and picks up much more than our Eureka and Kenmore does. It even outdid my friend's Dyson vacuum for pets. The stair attachment is fabulous, too! No more lugging a stupid vacuum along with me as I try to do each one of our steps. Just carry it down once to vacuum the stairs, then back up when you are done. Think of it as a quick exercise. Emptying it is a breeze, too. There is no dust/dirt mess that I have found. All in all, this is definitely a vacuum that stands up to its claims. I would recommend it for fellow pet lovers like us to get rid of all that fluff and fur that somehow finds its way into furniture and carpets. With four allergy sufferers in our home, it's essential that we pick up enough dust, pet dander, fur, etc. to make a difference. It has proven to be a good investment for us and I hope it will be the same for your family.

5Excellent KVM Switch for DVI-D systems
By Robert
Works well, use it to manage four servers which basically function as various workstations for various work related purposes (1) e-discovery/ security work; (2) data storage; (3) analysis. Difficult to fit in rack. Note this a dual link dvi (DVIDL), which is required for larger resolutions monitors 26"+.

5Great Sound
By sirrahs
I purchased this for my wife since she has recently gotten her own office at work. I was somewhat apprehensive since some of the reviews I have read said that there was buzzing from the speaker and low bass but since it is going in an office and would probably not be used for an office party I thought I would take a chance on it. I must say that I hear no buzzing and the bass is quite adequate. No butt thumping bass, but good enough for the intended purpose. My wife LOVES it!!! She is using her first generation Nano. It fits well, the sound quality is very good and she is so excited that she actually is looking forward to going to work and using it. The unit is so small that you cannot believe the sound. If this is something you would consider for a compact Ipod speaker system, you cannot go wrong. I may buy one for myself.

4JBL iPod speakers
By Lawrence Rabiner
I purchased the JBL speaker system for my iPod. At first it worked very well and I was very pleased. After about 25 days, the product started to fail, producing loud clicks and pops and then stopping running. After several cycles of this behavior, the speaker system just died and was not able to reproduce any sound from my iPod. I returned the speakers for replacement, but was told that the speakers were no longer being produced and that I would receive a full refund once the return was received. The merchant has been excellent and I highly recommend him. The product was a big disappointment.

5Great Sound, compact foot print
By Artem Lipatov
Though looking like it belongs in the "iSpeakers" department, make no mistake, this is an excellent product, well worth the money. There is no comparison to cheap (and sometimes not so cheap) docks and speakers, JBL's creation can play your tunes. There's bass, the highs are clear, mid frequencies are there too. Listening to classical music I found instrument separation to be amazing for such small device.Though it does not have an EQ control on the speakers, I found that "Classical" setting on my iPod sounds better than the others for any genre. This may have something to do with the internal EQ curve JBL implemented... Of course, this is very subjective and out of all presets you will most likely find the one you like best. The "Micro" will fit on any messy desk/shelf, but I have a feeling it will perform better in an open space because of it's design. The remote works exceptionally well, although don't expect lightning fast navigation, takes a little getting used to.There is video-out, audio-in, and it can function as a USB dock (cable not included)On the downside, due to it's size and shape there is very little stereo separation, unless you sit right in front of it. It would be awesome to have some kind of "ambient" or "virtual surround" effect available but I found it still performed quite well in a medium-size room.I'm sure the more expensive (+$100) "High Performance" version will sound better, but the "Micro" provides an excellent price/performance ratio.I found JBL Radial Micro at my local BJs club for $129.99 which made the purchase even sweeter, considering other stuff you get for around $100.

5Great Bed, Wrong Size
By Snape42
I ordered this bed and received it in just 3 days! However, I discovered that the frame was packed in the wrong box. I ordered the Queen size and the frame in the box was a twin/full. Amazon immediately ordered another bed for me at no charge and took care of the UPS pickup of the mismatched set. I got the other one in less than a week and it is superb. The bed is much nicer than it appears in the picture. It is sturdy and very well made. The shipment comes in two pieces - the head board/foot board, and the frame that they attach to. The frame is a nice heavy duty metal that has two cross bars for support near the top and the bottom of the bed, as well as a centerbar running down the middle perpendicular to prevent your mattress from hammocking.

3The bed was not as sturdy as expected
By Recent Purchaser
I think the bed is just too simple looking and it's not as sturdy as I expected it to be. Had I gone to a store to see it first I would not have purchased it based on the way it looks. My son has a small room and I decided to put a full size bed in his room and believe this may be a good fit after seeing it on the web but once delivered and assembled I was not impressed. It's really really lightweight, the quality is a disappointment. I've now had this product for about a month now and my son have been using it. I also use it often.

5Worth the money.
By SizeDoesMatter
Circulates the air. Definitely helps distribute the heat. Prepare to take some initiative during installation, it's not rocket science but ours came with no instructions at all, so be prepared to wing it. My only complaint is that the unit I got had obviously been a return resell because it had clearly been installed on something at least once before. It works fine, but the company ought to alert consumers that the unit they are getting may NOT be "brand new". Other than that, it's a good product and worth the investment.

5Best investment ever! Every woodstove should have this blower!
By Becky
Wood stove works great but upstairs is always hot and downstairs was cool. Now with blower, downstairs warms up fast, we burn less fuel and the blower is quiet. I'm so impressed. Unscrewed 3 screws, attached blower, plugged it in, and "BAM" I had heat all through the house. So very awesome.

The method you choose to store your ride and gear is a critical decision. Storing it outdoor, indoor or both, factors like waterproof and water resistant options must be considered; you also need to think about fade resistance and security factors.

5so far it money well spent
By J. North
I don't have the luxury of a garage at my rental property. It rains here sometimes. this cover protects well and securely fits on my ninja 500R. it has handy grommets for a locking cable and a strap to hold it on and help against wind "ballooning" the cover up. A solid cover that fits my needs when no garage is available.

5Great product. Great price

We just had a hurricane in NYC. The cover battled the rain, wind and kept my motorcycle dry. If you need an all weather cover for your motorcycle then this is the one.

4Good cover but shouldn't be all black
By bubbagumper6
This is a nice cover and seems like it will hold up well in the rain, but I'm a little worried about it being all black. It's very hard to see it at night and I have to park in a parking lot so I'm worried someone will pull in and hit it because they didn't see it...I'm looking into some reflective tape to put on it as I type this...

Gryphon Studio Stained Glass Grinder Product Description:

Product Description

This may not be the most expensive grinder on the market, but in my opinion, it's one of the best for the money. I have used this brand of grinder in my business for the last 3 years and it gets heavy use. Not once has it bogged down. I haven't had a minutes problem with it. Don't be surprised when you take it out of the box. It is not very heavy, but is extremely well made. The water goes in the tower on top of the grinder, not in the tray.
Here's the manufacturers description:
The new Gryphon Studio Grinder offers top performance at a modest price.
Its unique features make it easy to set up and use, and the powerful motor will never disappoint. See the grinder in action by watching our videos on your computer screen.

This grinder offers the following features:

Two grinding heads can be mounted at the same time, and both will be lubricated by the sponge even if the heads are different diameters.

Convenient face shield is included with each grinder.

Simple, rugged construction for long life.

Large work surface.

Five year warranty.

5Nice Little Machine...
By Matt
Just tried my grinder out for the 1st time, and I must say, it does what it's supposed to do, without any hesitation. I'm going to get years and years of work out of this machine, I can already see that, and you cannot beat that it comes with a 5 year warranty. I bought the grinder that a marketplace seller had up here for less than the other storefronts, but it is still in new condition (even though it was made in 2001, lol), and it still does the job. Thanks to Tricia Devine for selling it for a reasonable price. I also like the fact that it is easy to maintain & clean, and I can see getting another bit for doing fine corners and maybe even some drilling. Also, the unit is well designed as the water and grit residue from grinding never comes in contact with any moving parts. The only design change I can see making would be putting the drain hole right in the corner. It is located under the work area shelf, about 3/4" at a 45 degree angle inside from the upper left corner, facing the machine. Cleaning is still easy, but having this hole in the actual corner, you'd be able to lift the machine slightly and the water and mess would go in the hole without pooling up at all. Something for the Gryphon people to think about, if they haven't already done so on another model machine. Otherwise, an excellent purchase, and investment.
