Combination of excellent individual tools!

Milwaukee's V28's little brother has a lot going for it...Hammer Driver/Drill: Definitely the star of the combo kit! Powerful performance (550 in./lbs. of torque). Solid design, comfortable rubber molded handle aids operation, and rubberized trigger and convenient direction/lock-off switch add to ease of use. It is heavier than most 18-volt models though. Includes nice keyless chuck, 24 clutch settings, two speed ranges, and very well designed mode-change collar for three operating modes. Long bits can be stored on board.Reciprocating Saw: Cuts quickly and smoothly with a relatively low level of vibration. This is unquestionably a tough, effective saw, capable of most any job. Body design increases grip and control, large variable speed trigger fits naturally in hand. Top mounted thumb switch works very well to switch between two speed ranges or to lock trigger. The quick-locking, steel blade-clamp system makes for fast and easy tool-free blade changing.Circular Saw: Smooth, powerful and well balanced. Nice rubber overmold on handles and well placed lock-off switch and trigger. Bevel adjustment works well, but depth adjustment sometimes sticks. Well-designed shoe. Excellent blade brake. On board blade change wrench.Batteries and Charger: A little known bonus is that the batteries are actually 20-volt (5 cells of 4 volts each). The tools and charger work with both Lithium-Ion and NiCad batteries. Batteries maintain full strength until power runs out. The fuel gauge on the batteries is especially helpful. Great Tools - Great Value

All three tools (drill, circular and saber saw) work amazingly well. The drill is well balanced, has a great clutch when driving screws, and a very effective hammer drill function (the hammer drill function works better than my 15 yearold Milwaukee corded hammer drill). I especially liked the little things such as Milwaukee including a carbide tipped circular saw blade with the set.Only drawback I've seen is inherent with the technology of lithium ion - you'd better check the battery strength before getting into a hard to reach spot, because the tool performs at 100% right up to the end of battery life. The built-in charge meter on the batteries is there for a reason!

Great set, still large and heavy

First off, this set is fantastic quality and is very well built. The bodys of all three tools have little or no flex to them, and are ballanced quite well. After coming from two Bosch 18v sets, this set makes them feel completely laughable, like they are Wal-Mart "Black & Decker" or something (Yes, I know Bosch & B&D share genetics). The only downside to this set is the surprising size and weight. The don't feel any lighter than the aformentioned set and are certainly not any smaller. This is tainted somewhat because of comparing two totally different quality tools. The size is the same as any 18v ni-cad drill. Interestingly, you have to sit this drill (or any other in the set) right next to a 28v tool to notice any appreciable difference in size. If you need power and can handle the price, there really is no penalty to go with the 28v set. The circ saw is better in the 28v set too.For me, the initial deal maker for me was the battery gauge. I think it should basicly be required on lithium batteries because of their full performance right up to the end of their charge.They should have included the belt clip with the set and put the tools in a bag instead of the plastic puzzle box.Bottom line-awesome quality set but with minimal improvements.Edit: I now have only about 50 charges on the batteries and can say that the Li-ion batteries are an absolute joke. When asked to work them at all, they just shut down. Example senario--pull a fully charged battery off charger (press battery gauge button and it shows a full charge), put in on the circ-saw and crosscut a 2x12. If you push it hard at all, it may shut down before you get to through the board. Push the gauge button and it will blink one bar saying it is dead and needs recharging. You get pissed off and set the batt aside and grab another to finish the cut. Once a minute has passed, you press the gauge button on the original and it has miraculously recharged itself to 3/4 to full. If I could return the set, I would. Or at least trade down to the regular ni-cad batteries. I obviously would not recommend this set after putting some time on it.
