An alright piece of gear
By B. Bateson
I was already familiar with Pro Tools so the learning it was not the problem. The box itself is a good step up from the Mbox 2 with better preamps and a firewire interface instead of USB which is plagued with clocking issues and latency when recording. The Mbox 2 Pro also offers wordclock!! The 002 doesn't even have that! and it is a very nice feature to have if you want to use any digital outboard gear though it will limit you to working at 48kHz or below for some reason. If you want to do any kind of serious recording I would recommend getting the 003 but the Mbox 2 Pro is fine for me since I use Pro Tools more for editing and mixing then for recording. It is nice to know that when I do record I can record at up to 96K if needed and the preamps are pretty good. The factory bundle is useless...not worth the extra money at all.

Much better than The Mbox 2
By Rafael Marquez
If you are familiar with Protools LE and Digidesign Interfaces you will love it. It has more Line Inputs and Outputs than the previous Mbox 2, It has a AC power supply witch works more better with a Condenser Microphone and uses a Firewire port to connect to the computer.

Astounding power...yours to command...
By Thomas Quarles
..but it's a challenge and one you must be up to. I feel the pain of the previous post. Pro Tools was the most difficult and non-intuitive software install I have ever performed. I rue the day I have to re-install for any reason. Even once it's up and running the depth and complexity of Pro Tools isn't for the faint of heart. But once you begin to use it and understand it you find yourself thinking in new ways because the program's power invites you to do so.I've been a CoolEdit/Adobe Audition user for years and while AA (even 2.0) is easy to understand it's also very limiting in scope. Pro Tools can take you places you've never considered going. It gets into your head like a great PC game or a good book; you just keep wanting to explore.I suggest getting Pro Tools 7 Power: The Comprehensive Guide and Pro Tools LE7: Ignite, both available here at Amazon. You'll also need a basic understanding of studio recording or at least know someone who does.Having these assets in hand before beginning is very helpful.Becoming a Pro Tools user is taking a step into a larger world. Best you be up for it.
