Great Useful Phone
By N. Thompson
We bought this phone for my 85 year old mother in law. She is now able to talk with her friends on a daily basis and loves every minute of it. She had no problems learning which dial to press/turn to get the volume just right. She no longer has to even mess with them, she has it set perfectly for her. Instructions were very simple. It has been a blessing. She no longer feels isolated. She even talks with the grandkids and is able to understand every 'I love you!'

Fine but didn't work out for my dad
By L. Alan
The phone seemed fine to me, but we didn't really get the chance to give it much of a test. We bought it for my dad, who is 91, hard of hearing, and has gone blind in recent years due to macular degeneration. As it turned out, he didn't think he needed an amplified phone as much as we thought he did. We had him try listening to one recorded message on it (we called in to get the pre-recorded time and weather forecast) and he became overwhelmed and freaked out, saying he just couldn't stand to hear that lady's voice. (And he was the one controlling the volume knob.) After that he wasn't willing to try using it any more. He just asked me to take it away, so I did. And he wasn't willing to go through the learning curve to figure out which buttons and knobs were which. It was just way too much for him to handle, and he wanted to keep using his old phone, even though he has been having so much trouble hearing out of it that for the past few months I've had to literally shout when I talk to him on the phone. After all this he told me he isn't having any more trouble at all with his old phone, as he has now started holding the receiver to his OTHER ear and he can hear perfectly fine. What can I tell you? We sent the amplified phone back. End of story.
