Wow, legos my daughter likes!
By S. Bookworm
My daughter received this from her godmother when she 6 1/2 and was so excited by the picture on the box, she was inspired to put it together herself. She was so proud of herself, and saw herself as a builder--a whole new light for my stereotypical play-with-dolls/dress up girl. Then she got to play with the mermaid prince and princess who are still, 1.5 years later very popular, especially in the bath. It was her favorite Christmas present and the experience she chose to write about in her 1st grade journal. That being said, her godmother would NOT have given it to her at the current price >$100. I'm sure it cost about $30 at the time. for $30 it is a great deal. But I would not say it's worth over $50 in terms of the pieces included, since she does not take it apart and build other, invented, stuff continuously the way my 5 year old son does with his legos; it's more of a backdrop for the dramas enacted by the figures.

Very cool! =D
By smittyfan
First of all, when this set was released in 2005, it originally sold for $69.99 USD direct from the LEGO company. Today, considering it's a discontinued, out-of-manufacture set, $100 is actually a good deal. You'd be pretty hard-pressed to find it for any less than that, in 'New-In-Box' condition. Also take into consideration the fact that of late 2 other sets from that same Hans Christian Andersen theme, Lego Belville the Snow Queen 5961, and Lego Belville the Princess and the Pea 5963 have been selling for about $100-$150 in NEW condition, and both of those were priced at $19.99 when they first came out. Think about it. ;)I honestly think this set is awesome, and i just love all the unique undersea elements like the seaweed, crabs, starfish, seahorse, and just the over-all color scheme of it. It's my dream to obtain a couple sets of it, so as to have enough of these special elements in order to one day create an aquarium/fish tank moc. =D

RIP OFF!!! GREAT PRODUCT BUT RIP OFF PRICE BY RESELLER!
By Evan Trenta
Honestly folks, Legos are great and a lot of little girls love and would love this product, but DO NOT SPEND OVER $[...] DOLLARS FOR THIS PRODUCT!!! Some company is trying to rip you off because your daughter would love a princess or mermaid lego set... As the other review said, this product used to cost 30 or maybe [...] dollars. This is an absolute SCAM that even Amazon should be ashamed of having listed on its website.
