4An interesting compromise
By Samson Wick
I was given the original Jetfire as a present around 1985, and I can remember being very confused when watching the Transformers television show because Jetfire was called "Skyfire" and although the coloring was the same, the overall design was definitely different. Was he the same guy? If not, where was the Skyfire toy, and why didn't Jetfire appear in the TV show?I did not discover until about 15 years later that this had something to do with licensing. The original Jetfire toy was not based on the Transformers toy line at all, but some bizarre cross-marketing scheme that somehow ended in a Veritech fighter from Macross/Robotech getting an Autobot symbol slapped onto it. Evidently Hasbro/Takara were able to procure the rights to produce the toy, but not to include its image in the TV show. The cool thing about this "Classic" transformer is that its design no longer resembles the original Jetfire/Veritech design, but the Skyfire design that appeared in the Transformers TV show. They would have been better off calling this Skyfire, but were probably banking on the popularity of the original toy to help sell more units than memories of the TV show...Or there's some other bizarre licensing thing behind the scenes.Definitely a good piece of TF history to own for any collector.

5Skyfire lives!
By Rob Curtis
Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R27L9JR3744T8U Skyfire (Jetfire) is one of the better Transformer toys available today. I got one for my daughter and she loves it. I made this little movie for her to see what he'd look like if he were really transforming.

5This toy is among the best
By Eddie Resendiz
I recently receiI recently purchased this Transformer toy and was thrilled with it. I've been a fan or transformers the animated series for a number of years. Of course there was no Jetfire that I remember in the series, but there was Skyfire which I guess is the same. The toy itself turns into one of the best looking transformers character out on the market. Unlike many of the Tanka/Hasbro transformers toys that I own, transformation of Jetfire is a piece of cake. I never felt like I was going to break it while I was transforming it to robot mode. Jetfire comes with a helmet that can be removed if you choose to. There are two weapons on the arms that when you load the blue missiles you can fire them by the simple press of a button. It also comes with a hand weapon, and this weapon can split into two so that you can have one weapon on each hand (I usually just keep it as one big weapon). If you take a look at the sample picture, there are two shoulder weapons, although they have no spring loaded action themselves, it does add to the detail of the toy. These weapons can also be removed if you wish, and it looks more like an actual jet when they are removed during vehicle mode. Another positive about this toy is that unlike many other transformers toys out there, you have to remove weapons while in vehicle mode, because they don't fit or store away anywhere in the body. So chances of loosing these weapons are high, but when in vehicle mode every weapon that comes with Jetfire can stay on.The hands don't open and close, instead they are always closed fisted to hold the weapons. However the wrist does move 360 degrees around. The rest of the arm is really flexible, so you can pretty much position it any way you want. Overall this is a really nice looking transformer toy, and for $20 you really should consider purchasing it, especially if you are a kid at heart and a fan of the transformers series.Jetfire - Transformers Voyager Classic
