These are great boots. I have owned mine for over a year at the date of this review.After a year of owning these, I'd say these boots are pretty tough. Mine have held up on par with my older military issue boots,when they used to come in black. This could be because I take very good care of boots, having been in the military.To ensure your comfort, here are my recommendations.They take a good bit of breaking-in, as the leather is thick, and very sturdy. I recommend using mink oil, working the leather, and then bar-soaping the back of your heal, while wearing 2 pairs of thick socks while breaking these in. They are on par with jump boots, only much taller, and with slightly thicker leather. Make sure you don't lace the calves too tight, as you must account for muscle flexing and expansion while moving. Only steam break the boot at your own discretion if you have to do it in a hurry for a gig, or a night out. I would take the long traditional break in with these boots. You won't be sorry.Don't cheat yourself on your socks when wearing these, or you will be hating the back of your ankle-while still loving the boots!They are very high quality all around. I had the hardware on mine redone in black instead of chrome, looks good.Its a good boot, very unique looking, and quite durable. If I wear it about, just as a winter boot, I get probably 3 people stop me every day to ask about the boots, compliment them, ask where i got them etc.I would buy these again!
