These are the most comfortable boots I've ever worn. Unfortunately, they only lasted 7 months before the soles were destroyed and the stitching in the heels on both boots came undone. I would have liked them to last longer, but they did go through a lot of abuse. I work as a Diesel Mechanic at an airport in Alaska. It rains on average 14 feet(yes, feet) a year here. Very little snow. The boots never let my feet get wet until the soles wore out. They also never let me slip when I walked through all types of petroleum products. I am buying another pair.

I have worn many boots in my life. I was in the Navy for over seven years, and had numerous steel toe work boots there. I now work offshore and have worn Redwings for many years, which hurt my feet time and time again. Once they got broken in good, they were no good for use. I have had a pair of these boots for 18 months now, and while they have seen their better day by now, they are still just as comfortable. These boots were comfortable from day one. No need to break in. I am an Electronics Tehcnician, so the electrical rating is why I started looking at this boot. The only other boot that I looked at that compared to comfort, and some of my co-workers wear, would be the Timberland boot. However, I had to turn my boot sideways to get that boot on. This is a true slip on boot. to put this boot into perspective, my current pair have been needing replacing for 6 months now, and I continue to wear them because finding a 12W was next to impossible. These will be retired for around the house use now.

Ok I have cerebral palsy and over the years I have found that a well made work boot gives me better support and stability than both of my heavy loud clanking leg braces. A well made boot with a steel toe is best because; I have sympathetic reflex nerve dystrophy which makes my feet extremely and painfully sensitive to unexpected touch when added to my autism. The Caterpillar Men's Gladstone Boot is very strong heavy and supportive. My feet have a tendency to twist in odd angles if unrestrained by a quality stiff leather boot. When my foot twists or turns unexpectedly I fall and get hurt such is life with cerebral palsy. Normally I have to wear this stiff brace with a steel rod or two steel rods to hold my foot straight. The brace also keeps my foot from dropping too much as I walk. With practice I learned to walk without letting my foot drop too much. However my foot twisting comes from the bad mechanics of my foot and complications of cerebral palsy. This Caterpillar Men's Gladstone Boot is so stiff it keeps my foot from twisting much as I walk. In this quality Caterpillar Men's Gladstone Bootmy foot has very little room to twist and flex in ways that cause me to fall. The Caterpillar Men's Gladstone Boot is not as expensive to maintain as my braces. The bad mechanics of my feet and leg deformities often wear the heals on my shoes much faster than the case for normal humans. I buy work boots because their heals tend to last longer for me. In a quality boot I have gotten two years of near constant use before having to replace my work boots. I used to buy steel toe lace up work boots but as I age tying the strings is getting harder with my cerebral palsy so pull on boots were a nice option I am only trying for the first time. So far so good, the Caterpillar Men's Gladstone Boots are exceeding my expectations. Heal wear for the Caterpillar Men's Gladstone Boot is pronounced but not too excessive for a mid range price point work boot. Only time will tell if this Caterpillar Men's Gladstone Boot is the right choice for me and that is determined by heal wear, comfort and durability.In terms of comfort the Caterpillar Men's Gladstone Boot is not suitable unless you tuck your pants leg into the boot. Caterpillar Men's Gladstone Boot sizes run large so you should have lots of room to stuff your jeans into these boots unless your legs are thick as umbrella stands. These Caterpillar Men's Gladstone Boots are work core work boots so they really work best with jeans. The Caterpillar Men's Gladstone Boots are nice to look at and thus look far more up market than the normal work boot with its exposed rivets and metal work. The Caterpillar Men's Gladstone Boot looks upscale smart for the man seeking a blue collar look without the blue collar ethos! I take one star off because; the boots will cut your legs to shreds even through thick socks; if you do not place your jeans inside the boots. I must admit placing my blue jeans legs inside the boot did wonders for stabilizing my foot even more so it was for me a good thing it worked out. However if you hate socks and don't tuck your pants in the boots expect to bleed real good as I sure did. When you are diabetic as I am you don't want to have anything that cuts or causes sores or damage because healing is difficult which is why I took off a star.Finally in defense of the Caterpillar Men's Gladstone Boot I liked this one so much I brought 2 more pair. At first it is very hard to pull on over your foot. However with time the boot leather starts to remember the shape of your foot even when it is a huge size 12 in deformed \ weird shaped cerebral palsy monster foot like mine. The Caterpillar Men's Gladstone Boot's are good. If these work out I will be buying more. So far I like these boots. Keep an eye out for updates. I hope to update my experiences with the Caterpillar Men's Gladstone Boot over time. Oh and to those who think my reviews sound like info-mercials I have autism and its just the way I write get over it and move to the next review. If you are a Jerk, please don't waste your time ranting about something of long standing neither of us can change.
