Top notch pocketknife

Generally, there is no real need for anything more than a Swiss Army Knife, or a very basic tool like an Opinel or Douk-Douk pocketknife. But there is a certain pleasure in handling a well crafted tool, whether that tool is a hammer, a socket wrench, a lathe, or a knife. This knife is a pleasure to handle.The lines are a little odd at first glance, apparently gratuitous styling, but this is not the case. The handle is solid and well contured, allowing for a firm grip and positive control of the blade. The blade has an excellent geometry for any use a pocketknife is appropriate for. It is especially well suited for food preparation, but works well for cutting line or opening boxes, et cetera. Fit and finish are superb, maintaining the high standards of Al Mar, even if departing from their usual lines.As much as I like this knife, the handle is just a little too thick for my tastes, maybe a millimeter or so. But this is the only criticism I can make.And the usual caveats regarding cutlery... If you get cut, have a little integrity, and admit that you were a bone-head and ignored a safety rule, and children and stupid adults should not handle things they could hurt themselves with.The Al Mar Nomad is a little pricey, but is an exceptionly well made tool. Expensive and Addictive EDC Knife

Buy this folding knife, only if you love knives, collect knives, and don't mind burning over $100 bucks on a large EDC knife. There are so many cheaper alternatives out there from Spyderco,Kershaw, and ColdSteel to name a few, that will fill that role in your pocket, but the Nomad you will fall in love with, trust me, I have family, friends, and co-workers that all carry a plethora of knives, and they all envy my Nomad. 1st, Blade is exactly three inches in beautiful VG-10 stainless steel, no mistake this is expensive steel, but mainly look at the shape of the blade, perfect EDC (every day carry) great for cutting, slicing foods, and even piercing boxes, the blade is not intimidating at all, so you can feel free to pull it out anywhere, knife people will admire the blade instantly, non-knifers will not think twice, very cool. 2nd After 2 months of daily use, I can now say the blade has not needed resharpening, no signs of rust either, and with proper oiling and lubrication the pivot opens super fast, the lock up is tight and has not needed re-tightening either, and I flip open my knife all day just out of habit so it stands up. the handle is nice but not super ergonomic, more style than function, but don't worry it handles fine and you get good jimmping up the spine. In short if this knife was a car think of it as a Porsche, and a gift that only you can give to yourself.

Small, well crafted, amazing blade

Razor sharp out of the box, well small and light. The ergonomics are good and the texture grip is very good. This isn't going to be up to any heavy duty cutting tasks. It is a perfect gentleman's pocket knife and ideally suited for most daily cutting tasks. The clip permits only tip-down carry inside of a pocket so that is not my preferred arrangement. It is not reversible. All in all a very nice package.

Not just for horses!

My boyfriend is a nerd, in a lot of ways. One of his geek-out categories is with these types of percussive massagers. He's bought several of the Brookstone "Max" models (seriously, like four or five of them over the years), but the problem with those is that the new model is far less powerful than the original, and all of them end up getting gradually weaker and weaker over the span of about a year or so, until they eventually just die. He bought one of the original Max models used on ebay, but those are nearly impossible to find now, and who wants to buy a used massager, anyway? So, disappointed with the newer Max model, we did some online research to find a replacement.He started searching for personal massagers on Amazon, which led to hilarious results. Then we started looking at percussive massagers. That was a better search phrase.Anyway, we found this one. The downside is that it doesn't come with a stick-type handle that allows you to easily reach different areas of your body. This is kind of a big downside. You can find ways to work around it, somewhat, but unless you have a helper who can use it on you, you might be frustrated by that. The upside is that (so far) it's been a great massager. Slightly stronger than the Max, but not obscenely so. And it seems well built, too. It's a bit heavy, which is bad if you want to throw it in a suitcase and take it with you on several planes (nerdy boyfriend does this), but if you're keeping it mostly at home, the heaviness actually works to your advantage, because you can use it on your back or shoulders as a mostly hands-free operation and get good pressure. We're hoping it lasts several years, and from what I've seen it do so far, I don't think that's unrealistic.

More Power to You

The Radeon X1950XTX is ATI's latest offering in the world of high-end videocards. With 384 million transistors on a 90-nanometer fabrication process and 512 megabytes of 1.0 Ghz (effectively 2.0 GHz) GDDR4 memory, it boasts a myriad of cutting-edge technology. With 48 pixel shaders and 8 vertex shaders, this card is ready to handle the demands of today's newest games, and ATI's avivo technology provides high-quality video playback. It evens supports HDTV output in 480p, 720p, and 1080i.By going with the new GDDR4 memory technology, the X1950XTX gains an appreciable memory bandwidth increase over its predecessor, the X1900XTX. Oddly, this increase in memory bandwidth doesn't always translate into a proportionate performance increase, so the X1950XTX doesn't necessarily have a huge edge over the X1900XTX, although the difference can sometimes be pretty significant, and tends to widen more when running games at very high resolutions, although not in all games. I definitely recommend checking out some benchmark sites such as X-bit Labs and Anandtech to see the numbers. In some benchmarks, it's on-par with NVIDIA's GeForce 7950GX2, which is pretty impressive, although the 7950GX2 has a significant lead in other benchmarks. Overall, the X1950XTX shows a consistent performance advantage over the X1900XTX, and is also consistently ahead of NVIDIA's 7900GTX, which the X1900XTX had been lagging behind. The X1950XTX is perhaps the fastest single card available, and has the advantage of being able to run HDR lighting and FSAA simulataneously.One welcome feature of this card is its redesigned cooling system. It generally runs very quietly, although it can get a bit noisy when the card gets hot. It's still a two-slot solution that uses the extra slot to blow hot air out the back of the system chassis, but for the most part it works quietly and efficiently. However, the card is pretty power-hungry, and can consume well over 100 watts of power at it's peak, meaning you need a pretty beefy power supply - ATI calls for a 450W unit with 30 Amps on the 12-Volt circuit.Overall, I was pretty impressed with the X1950XTX. Its performance increases were enough for me to justify the higher price over the X1900XTX, and its performance often rivals or surpasses that of two lower-end cards running in SLI. The only reason I docked it a star is the timing of its release, since DirectX 10 cards are very close on the horizon, although it's anybody's guess as to when games will be fully exploiting DX10's features. Also, the early word is that first-generation DX10 cards will be extremely power-consuming, possibly double that of current high-end cards. If you're looking for a single-card solution and aren't too concerned about the coming of DX10, the X1950XTX is worth a look; it's Vista-ready and has plenty of power.

just great!

This is just great for a single VPU video card, the cooling system works great, moving all the hot air outside the CPU. The software overclock is good too, u can change values any time u want and u can select if u want those applied for 3D games only.It works with any game, I've tested it with Oblivion at 1280x1024, HDR enabled and every option at maximum. It works great with F.E.A.R at 1280x1024 with AAx8 and FFA x 4the price is good for a very high end video cards.

It is a "screamer"

I have been using this card with Core 2 Duo E6700 since January 2007. (10 mos.) I have not found any game it cannot streak through including Crysis Demo. It is much better than sliced bread, and if it had DX10 support it would be absolutely the greatest.
