Good looking, solid, quality product!
By Jeff A. Shelby
The Show Chrome Tubular Solo Rack for the Yamaha Road Star is one of the few solo fender-mounted racks still available for this motorcycle (2009 Road Star Std). The Yamaha factory accessory is very hard to find new, costs $$$ more, and has fitment problems with 2009-later models. The Show Chrome rack is easy to assemble (follow the directions about fitting the rack before tightening the platform screws!) and easy to mount with one exception: the rear M10 (5mm socket) button screw has very poor clearance for an Allen wrench under the rear rack rail (even using a ball-tip wrench). The shim-tuned platforms really help make this a custom-fit item and it shows in the solid, stable mount once it's attached. No other two-screw fender-mount rack is as stable as this one.The chroming is clean and deep, the welds are tight and smooth, and the slotted mounting holes front & rear allow for minor variations from one model year to another. An excellent design, well executed and at a decent price. Highly recommended!

Ok, but needs different fasteners
By V. Martin
I installed this rack on my 2003 Yamaha Roadstar 1600...holes lined up, but it uses philips-head screws...the screw on the rear portion is very hard to get to and get really tight. I eyeballed it, rode on a trip and it popped off of the bike, both screws while waiting at a light. Went to an auto parts store, bought a 10mm and a 6mm hex-head coarse-thread bolts, installed in the parking lot with wrenches and haven't had a problem since. Finish is beautiful and the rack itself is very sturdy. Chrome is flawless and even after falling on the concrete, no scratches are visible. Would be 5 stars but the stock bolt choice coming off while in traffic lowered my cool points considerably. Overall, a solid product.
