I bought a couple of these for a new 500 square foot office / shop area. The room is approximately 16' x 32'. It has a white ceiling and antique white walls, with light gray flooring. I had three ceiling boxes available, but after putting up two of these, I was very happy with the even distribution and overall level of the light. I used the Philips Alto 5000K T8 tubes, and the light quality was very pleasing for our purposes. The room also has natural light from the north, and these lights mix well with that source. At night when the fluorescents are the only source, it is still very nice. I put a cover on the third ceiling fixture box. I will not be needing as much task lighting as I had thought either.The ballasts are silent. The lights come on instantly. Each is on its own switch, but they are both drawing from the same circuit. These fixtures equipped with four lamps each are drawing about the same current as four 60 watt incandescent bulbs, but I can't imagine that four 60 watt incandescent bulbs would give anywhere near as uniformly pleasing light. The bill to run these lights will be very low compared to any incandescent approach with close to this level of performance.I installed each light using two 3/16" x 3" toggle bolts which are NOT included. I centered the fixtures over the ceiling boxes, and then drilled two 5/8" holes for the toggle bolts. I brought the wires into the fixture by punching out a metal knockout disk while still on the work table. Wire nuts were included for hot and common. There is a ground screw on the fixture, but no wire or wire nut. If your ground wire is long enough, you can bring it right to the ground screw. I added a short bit of gauge 12 copper wire and a wire nut from my own supply. You could probably run them ungrounded, but I have a ground fault interrupt breaker on that circuit, and I've made it a point to have consistent grounding in all of the circuits that serve the new space.The fixtures were light enough that I was able to take them up the ladder and poke the toggle bolts through the holes without help. The wire channel down the middle of the fixture springs on and off with some flexing, and this proved to be functional, although I might prefer screws. Flexing to engage and disengage offset tabs is a pretty common way of designing these kinds of fixtures.The diffusers are really excellent. No indication of brittleness. You have to be careful with any diffuser, but these had a very pliable feel to them, they look good in place, and they really throw a very uniform general lighting pattern. I don't know if they will be more brittle when they are older.I am very happy with these lights, and I would recommend them to a friend. In fact, I have already recommended them to my cousin who is doing a similar project.

I have purchased these lights before for use in our office. They are not as harsh as other florescent lights. The cloud feature is nice.
