5Only one of its kind
By Paul Deane
I've searched high and low to find a device that does what this does. Not only does it do what it says it does, but it does it very well! It's reasonably priced, and it's fairly sleek. If you need to combine HDMI (up to 2) and a Component video source to one HDMI then this is what you want. Excellent Component to HDMI conversion! It also, splits the HDMI audio out to optical. I say again, the only one of its kind.

4A lot of people are buying this for the wrong reason. This thing is not designed to do what most people think.
By William D. Mruphy
This thing was designed with a very specific purpose. The company who made it had a $1600 preamp/processor (receiver without an amplifier built in).The problem for them and the customers is that people wanted HDMI and they didn't want to have to replace an amazing premp/processor for that reason they designed this thing. It DOES NOT scale lower resolutions to 1080p for a very good reason. The highest quality down to the mid quality preamp/processor and receivers have special video post processing that greatly increases the video quality. This part makes up a large portion of the cost of a new pre/pro or receiver. One of the many post processing systems are made by Faroudja and is called DCDi there are much better ones out there as well but the bottom line is to incorporate that into a switch would greatly increase the cost and if it wasn't as good as the post processing in the Preamp Processor or the Receiver then it would just make it look worse. So all it does is take the exact signal that it is given then send it through the HDMI cable. Also as for the size this thing needs to be as wide as the products it was intended for. That also means it needs to be as wide as a rack spot incase you planned on putting it in a rack. This product is pure genius and clearly they where given a problem and they solved it.If you want HDMI but don't want to repurchase an extremely expensive component then this is the absolute best way to get your old equipment to be compatible with HDMI.I LOVE IT!!!! I wish I knew about it 3 years ago when I replaced a flagship yamaha receiver for a Pioneer Elite that has no where near the power that the Yamaha had.Not going to happen again... My main system has a Sherwood P965 and I would have gotten rid of it for a Emotica XMC-1 when it comes out. But then I stumbled upon this beutiful little gem!
